Birthdays
A rooftop above MG Road, tables for two to 60, dessert on the house when you tell us what the evening is, and nobody charging you to cut your own cake. Everything on this page is what actually happens, with the numbers left in.
On the night
Not a package. Five specific things, and all of them start with one line on the booking form.
Choose Birthday as the occasion and a Brownie with Ice Cream comes to the table with a candle in it, no charge and no code to remember. It is a live offer, not a promise in copy — you can see it on the offers page with everything else we are running.
Hand it over when you arrive. We keep it cold, and bring it out with candles, a knife and plates when you ask rather than when somebody remembers. There is no cakeage charge. It is a normal fee elsewhere and it is a bad surprise on a bill at eleven at night, so we do not levy one.
Put it in the note on the booking. Nobody mentions the birthday when you arrive, the cake stays out of sight until you signal, and the dessert comes after the mains instead of the moment the table sits down.
We are not turning it after ninety minutes. The kitchen takes its last order at 11:00 PM and we close at 11:30 PM, so a table booked at eight has the food, the cake, the photographs and the last round of coffee inside it without anybody hovering.
Rooftop, the air-conditioned room, or the private corner. Pick a specific area on the booking form and we only confirm if it is genuinely free — we would rather say no than seat you somewhere else and apologise on the night.
Room for it
These are the counts the booking engine measures against, not a brochure figure. A party fits an area or it does not, and splitting fifteen people across two ends of a roof is two dinners rather than one party.
| Where | Seats |
|---|---|
| The open terraceTables along the parapet, open sky, the city underneath. | 60 |
| The air-conditioned roomSame kitchen, same menu. For June, and for the evening it rains. | 40 |
| The private cornerIts own corner off the main roof, so the noise stays yours. | 20 |
The booking form takes up to 60 guests in one booking — the terrace’s own seat count. A party that size can only land on Rooftop or Any; the smaller two areas are measured separately and will refuse a group they cannot fit. Past 60, call and we will plan it with you.
The bill
Nobody publishes this, so here is ours. It is an illustration rather than a quote — a real table orders differently — but every price in it is on the menu right now and you can check the arithmetic.
₹980 a head. With the code TABLE20 — 20% off the food bill for four or more, capped at ₹800 — the same table comes to ₹5,040, or ₹840 each.
Past about fifteen people, à la carte stops working — a kitchen cannot send thirty different dishes at once, so the food arrives in waves and half the table eats while the other half watches. That is where a set menu per head earns its place: fixed courses agreed in advance, veg, non-veg or a mix, everything landing together, and a total known before anybody sits down.
It is priced per head from our Party & Celebrations menu and quoted on the phone, because it depends on your headcount and your veg-to-non-veg split. We are not going to print a number here that turns out to be wrong for your party.
Booking it
The whole booking takes about a minute, and there is no fee for holding a date you might change.
Birthdays
Cakes, surprises, numbers and the bill. Everything here is what the site and the kitchen actually do.
We do not bake cakes, so bring your own — and there is no cakeage charge for cutting it. Hand it to whoever seats you and we will keep it somewhere cold, then bring it out with candles, a knife and plates when you ask for it. What we do provide is dessert: choose Birthday as the occasion when you book and a Brownie with Ice Cream comes to the table on the house, no code and nothing to claim.
Yes, and it works better if you tell us in the note on the booking. Say it is a surprise and we will not mention the birthday when you arrive, will hold the cake back until you signal, and will bring the dessert after the mains rather than the moment you sit down. Staff on the floor read the booking notes before service, so it reaches the right people.
Two to sixty, all through the same form. The terrace seats 60, the air-conditioned room seats 40 and the private corner seats 20, and the booking engine checks your party against the seats in the area you chose rather than against the building — so a party of 30 has to be on the rooftop or on "Any". For more than sixty, call and ask for the manager; that is a conversation rather than a form.
Balloons, a banner and table decorations are all fine, and worth mentioning when you book so we can let you up a little early to put them out. Anything that has to be fixed to a wall, and anything with a flame in it beyond birthday candles, needs agreeing with the manager first — it is an open roof and we are careful about both.
Earlier than feels right. Slots run hourly from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and a group that arrives at seven has finished starters before the rush begins, so the mains land while the kitchen is still calm. The same group at nine gets everything, but in waves. Between 5 and 7 in the evening every mocktail is also 30% off, which for a table of twelve is a real saving.
No. A table booked for a birthday is not being sold to anybody else that night. We are open until 11:30 PM and the kitchen takes its last order at 11:00 PM, so a table booked at eight or nine has the cake, the photographs and the last round of coffee comfortably inside it.
The air-conditioned room seats 40, runs off the same kitchen with the same menu, and exists precisely for the deep heat of May and June and for the fortnight of monsoon that always lands on the evening somebody booked. It is not the overflow — it is a plan. Tell us which you would prefer when you book and we will do our best to hold it.
None. There is no booking fee, no deposit for a normal table, no service charge and no cover charge. Cancellation is free up to two hours before. You pay for the food and the 5% GST on it, and that is the whole bill.
Anything up to sixty people goes through the form and confirms straight away. For something larger, or a set menu, call and ask for the manager — we will plan it with you.
No booking fee. Free cancellation up to 2 hours before. Open every day, 1:00 PM to 11:30 PM; the kitchen takes its last order at 11:00 PM.
