Saturday night in Agra, hour by hour: sunset, a show and dinner on a roof

Agra is not a club city, and a Saturday here runs on the sun: the Taj by day, the far bank of the Yamuna at last light, a show, then a long dinner on a roof. Here is the evening hour by hour, with the three Saturdays this season when the Taj opens after dark, where to find a drink or a DJ, and how to get back.

The best Saturday night in Agra follows the sun. Spend the last hour of light at Mehtab Bagh, across the Yamuna from the Taj, see the 6:30 PM show at Agra Fort or the 6:45 PM one at Kalakriti, then sit down to a long dinner at Altitude Rooftop Lounge above MG Road 2, where the kitchen takes its last order at 11:00 PM and the doors close at 11:30 PM. Friday and Saturday are its busiest evenings from October to February, so book the table in the morning.

An Agra night out is not a club night. The monuments close by sunset, the bazaars wind down from about 9:00 PM and most kitchens stop well before midnight, so a good Saturday here is a matter of order, not stamina. The top 10 nightlife places in Agra ranks the evenings one by one; this page puts one Saturday together, hour by hour.

Saturday night in Agra at a glance

Timed for October to February, when the evenings are cool and dry enough for a roof. The sun sets at about 5:55 PM in early October, 5:25 PM from mid-November to mid-December and 6:00 PM by late January. In June it is after 7:00 PM, so in summer pick Mehtab Bagh or the show, not both.

6:30 PMRang-e-Agra at Agra Fort, in Hindi; the English show is at 7:30 PM.
Or 6:45 PMMohabbat the Taj at Kalakriti, Fatehabad Road; allow two hours.

4:30 PM: the Taj from Mehtab Bagh

On a Saturday the Taj itself is open until 30 minutes before sunset, so see it by day. The last of the light is better from Mehtab Bagh, the Mughal garden on the north bank of the Yamuna, laid out in line with the Taj. It is open every day from sunrise to sunset; the ASI ticket is ₹25 for Indians and ₹300 for foreign visitors, and under-15s go free.

Arrive an hour before sunset, and carry water: there are no food stalls inside. If the ride over the river is too much, a Taj Ganj terrace does the same job from a chair; Agra’s two kinds of rooftop explains how to pick one.

6:30 PM: a show at Agra Fort or Kalakriti

The hour after sunset is when most visitors run out of ideas. Two shows fill it.

  • Rang-e-Agra at Agra Fort. A 45-minute, projection-mapped history of the city, every day, in Hindi at 6:30 PM and in English at 7:30 PM. The official listing gives ₹300 for Indian adults and ₹800 for foreign adults (₹150 and ₹400 for ages 8 to 17), sold online and at the Fort.
  • Mohabbat the Taj at Kalakriti. The love story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal as theatre, with costume, dance and a replica of the Taj, at the Kalakriti Cultural and Convention Centre on Fatehabad Road. The theatre listed a 6:45 PM show every evening in October 2026, with headsets in 12 languages and seats from ₹1,700. Confirm when you book, and allow two hours.

The Fort is on the way west, costs less and is about 5 to 6 km, or 20 minutes, from Altitude: after the Hindi show you can be at the table by about 7:45 PM, after the English one by 8:45 PM. In early October and from February, with sunset at about 5:50 PM or later, the 6:30 PM show is a scramble from Mehtab Bagh, about 8 km away by road, so take the 7:30. From Kalakriti, allow 30 to 45 minutes to Shahganj and expect to sit down at about 9:00 PM.

8:30 PM: dinner at Altitude Rooftop Lounge

This is where the evening ends. Altitude Rooftop Lounge is on the top floor above MG Road 2 in Shahganj, on the west side of the city, in the building with Domino’s at street level; a lift runs to the top. It is open every day from 1:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with the last kitchen order at 11:00 PM, and in a city that eats early, that is what lets a Saturday hold both a show and a proper dinner.

The kitchen is on the roof, with a tandoor, a wok and a pizza oven: 225 dishes from ₹20 to ₹830, North Indian, Mughlai, Chinese, Continental and Italian, each marked veg, non-veg or egg on an English menu. On the menu in October 2026: Lahori Paneer Tikka ₹480, Altitude Pahadi Chicken ₹630, Rajasthani Lal Maas ₹570, Dal Makhan Wali ₹380, Naan ₹80 and Gulab Jamun with Ice Cream ₹180. Pizzas are 12-inch thin crust, baked to order in about 25 minutes.

Two things to know. Altitude has no Taj view: after dark the terrace looks out over the city’s lights and the sky. And Altitude serves no alcohol; the cold list is mocktails, mojitos, iced teas, lemonades, shakes and frappes, with coffee and tea, and a Virgin Mojito or a Paan Mojito is ₹160. There are 60 seats on the open terrace and 40 indoors in air conditioning, and you can pay by cash, UPI or card.

Book the table. Friday and Saturday evenings from October to February are the busiest, and the open parking at the foot of the building fills fastest from 8:00 to 9:00 PM, so if you are driving, arrive before eight or after nine. Booking online is free, confirmed instantly and free to cancel up to two hours before. On a Saturday a table booked online in advance gets 15% off (the 20% and 30% offers are Monday to Friday), one offer per bill and not on 31 December, 1 January, major festivals or public holidays; the offers page has the terms.

Other Saturday dinners, and when to pick them

Altitude is first because it fits this evening: orders until 11:00 PM, a menu for a mixed group, and a roof about 20 minutes from the Fort show. On some Saturdays one of these suits better; hours are as each place lists them.

Saturday dinner in Agra, ranked for this evening
WherePick it when
1. Altitude Rooftop Lounge, MG Road 2You want a long dinner after a show, ordering until 11:00 PM.
2. Taj Terrace, Hotel Taj ResortsIt is a night-viewing Saturday: a roof near Shilpgram, dinner 7:00 to 11:00 PM.
3. The Mughal Room, Hotel Clarks ShirazYou want live ghazals with dinner, served until 11:00 PM.
4. The Salt Cafe Kitchen & Bar, Fatehabad RoadHalf the table wants a drink with dinner; open until 1:00 AM.
5. Mama Chicken Mama Franky House, SadarYou want kebabs and frankies; its listing gives noon to midnight.

If the moon is full: the Taj at night on a Saturday

On a few Saturdays the evening can include the Taj itself. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) opens it on the full-moon night and the two nights either side, never on a Friday or in Ramzan, in eight half-hour batches of up to 50 people. The official Taj Mahal site gives the hours as 8:00 PM to midnight and the ASI’s Agra Circle site as 8:30 PM to 12:30 AM, so go by the time on your ticket.

Book on the ASI’s ticketing site from seven days before each night, so from about 17 October, 16 January and 13 March. Tickets are ₹510 for Indian adults, ₹750 for foreign adults and ₹500 for children aged 3 to 15. Print the ticket, carry photo ID for everyone and report to Shilpgram, near the East Gate, half an hour before your batch.

Phones are not allowed in, so agree with your driver where to meet. The October and March dates fall before the full moon, so the moon is up for the first batch; the January one is the night after, so take a later batch. The night-view guide has the rest.

On a viewing night the Taj replaces the show, and dinner moves. Shilpgram is about 10 to 12 km from Altitude, 30 to 45 minutes in the evening. For an 8:00 PM batch, sit down at about 5:00 PM and leave by 6:45 PM, while Altitude’s mocktails are still 30% off (until 6:00 PM). For a batch at 9:30 PM or later, eat at an ordinary hour and leave 75 minutes before it.

After dinner: a drink, a DJ night or a night party

Altitude does not serve alcohol, so a drink means one of the city’s bars, most of them in hotels and many along Fatehabad Road. If you are staying out that way, the bar can be the last stop on the way back. Hours as the bars list them:

  • Until 1:00 AM: The Bar at Trident Agra, Fatehabad Road, calm and open every day.
  • Until 1:30 AM on Saturdays: Two Saints, two floors and an open-air roof on Fatehabad Road.
  • Until 2:00 AM: JB’s Lounge and Bar at Hotel Amar, Fatehabad Road.
  • Before dinner instead: Infini, on the roof of the Taj Hotel & Convention Centre near the East Gate, noon to 11:00 PM, for a sundown drink with the Taj in view.

The drinking age in Uttar Pradesh is 21, so carry photo ID. Bars close on dry days, such as national holidays and around elections, and nobody should drive afterwards. The top 10 bars in Agra has the rest.

DJ night in Agra

Agra has no club circuit; a DJ night is something a bar puts on. Molecule Air Bar on Fatehabad Road has a DJ and stays open until 1:00 AM, and the Liquid Lounge at the Taj Hotel & Convention Centre, open until midnight, has one too. Line-ups change, so ring on the day, as the guide to live music in Agra explains.

A night party at Altitude

Altitude has no standing DJ night and no scheduled live music. A DJ can be arranged with a party booking and plays until 10:30 PM, and the floor is shared with the rest of the roof unless it is booked exclusively. Group menus are on the party menus page. There is no cakeage charge, balloons, a banner or table decorations can come by prior arrangement, and choosing “Birthday” when you book brings a brownie with ice cream on the house.

With friends, or as a couple

Places to visit in Agra at night with friends

  • Sadar Bazaar’s Chaat Gali from about 7:00 PM: bhalla, paani ke batashe and papri chaat, ordered to share, before the shops start closing at about 9:00 PM.
  • A kebab run: Mama Chicken Mama Franky House on Sadar Bazaar Road.
  • Kinari Bazaar, the old-city lanes behind the Jama Masjid, best from 6:00 to 8:30 PM while the shops are open.
  • A long table on the roof: Altitude’s terrace seats 60, and the menu runs from the tandoor to the pizza oven.
  • A loud night: Molecule Air Bar, or the open-air roof at Two Saints, late at weekends.

Things to do in Agra at night for couples

  • Mehtab Bagh at last light, then Mohabbat the Taj, which is, after all, a love story.
  • The Taj by moonlight, on 24 October, 23 January or 20 March.
  • A terrace table at Altitude. Ask for the terrace when you book, or come Monday to Thursday for a quieter roof and 20% off. Altitude does not do candle-light set-ups or table decoration itself, but you can bring your own decorations by prior arrangement.

More ideas for two are in couple-friendly cafés in Agra and planning an anniversary dinner in Agra.

Getting around after dark, and is Agra safe at night?

A Saturday like this one crosses Agra twice: over the river to Mehtab Bagh, then west to Shahganj. Take the care you would in any Indian city; the nightlife list’s safety section has the full version.

  • App cabs first. Uber works in Agra: the fare is fixed before you get in, and the trip is logged and can be shared.
  • Autos and e-rickshaws: agree the fare, and any waiting time, before you get in.
  • Book the ride home from the table, while you wait for the bill.
  • Stay where it is busy and lit. A bazaar lane that is crowded at 8:30 PM can be dark by 10:30 PM.
  • Driving? No polluting vehicle may go within 500 metres of the Taj, so for the night viewing the car stops at Shilpgram.
  • Save 112, India’s single emergency number, and keep your hotel’s address on your phone.

A weekend in Agra: where Saturday fits

With a whole weekend, give the Taj your Saturday morning: it is closed to visitors every Friday, and the official site suggests the East Gate to avoid the crowd.

  • Friday: the Taj is shut and the rest of Agra is not; Agra on a Friday has the plan.
  • Saturday: the Taj by day, then the evening on this page.
  • Sunday: Fatehpur Sikri. Shahganj is the first part of Agra on the way back, about 34 km and 50 to 60 minutes from Sikri, so make it lunch at Altitude from 1:00 PM, 15% off with a table booked online. Fatehpur Sikri to Agra has the road.

In late February, check the Taj Mahotsav dates, which for 2027 are not out yet: in its usual 18 to 27 February slot, the stalls and evening stage at Shilpgram make a Saturday of their own. The Taj Mahotsav guide has the details.

Whatever the plan, settle the Saturday dinner first, because it is the part that fills up: book the table at Altitude in the morning.

Saturday night in Agra

A Saturday in Agra, briefly answered

Short answers to what people search before a Saturday night out here. Show times, ticket prices and bar hours change, so check with each place on the day.

  • What to do on Saturday night in Agra?

Spend the last hour of light at Mehtab Bagh, across the Yamuna from the Taj, then see Rang-e-Agra at Agra Fort (6:30 PM in Hindi, 7:30 PM in English) or Mohabbat the Taj at 6:45 PM. Finish with dinner at Altitude Rooftop Lounge on MG Road 2, which takes its last order at 11:00 PM and closes at 11:30 PM; book ahead, because Saturday is one of its two busiest evenings from October to February.

  • Can you see the Taj Mahal on a Saturday night?

Only on the ASI’s night-viewing dates: the full moon and two nights either side, never on a Friday or in Ramzan. In the 2026–27 season the Saturdays in those windows are 24 October 2026, 23 January 2027 and 20 March 2027, with tickets (₹510 for Indian adults, ₹750 for foreign adults) booked online on the ASI’s site from seven days before.

  • Is there a DJ night in Agra?

Not in the club sense. Molecule Air Bar on Fatehabad Road has a DJ and stays open until 1:00 AM, and the Liquid Lounge at the Taj Hotel & Convention Centre, open until midnight, has one too, so ring on the day to check what is on. At Altitude a DJ can be arranged only with a party booking, and it plays until 10:30 PM.

  • Where can I have a night party in Agra?

For a group dinner with music, book a party at Altitude Rooftop Lounge: a DJ can be arranged with the booking and plays until 10:30 PM, the kitchen takes orders until 11:00 PM, and there is no cakeage charge. Altitude serves no alcohol, so a party that wants a bar is better at one of the Fatehabad Road bars, such as Qairo or Two Saints.

  • What are the places to visit in Agra at night with friends?

Mehtab Bagh at sunset, the Agra Fort show, then Sadar Bazaar’s Chaat Gali or a kebab counter while the bazaar is open, and a long table on a roof to finish. For a loud night with drinks, Molecule Air Bar and the roof at Two Saints, both on Fatehabad Road, stay open past midnight.

  • What are the things to do in Agra at night for couples?

Watch the light go at Mehtab Bagh, see Mohabbat the Taj, and on a night-viewing date see the Taj itself by moonlight, then have dinner on a terrace. Altitude’s terrace looks over the city lights rather than the Taj, and it does not do candle-light set-ups, but you can bring decorations by prior arrangement.

  • Is Agra safe at night?

Take the care you would in any Indian city: stay in busy, lit areas, use an app cab or a prepaid taxi after dark, agree auto fares before you get in, and save 112, India’s emergency number. The bazaars wind down from about 9:00 PM and most kitchens stop before 11:00 PM, so plan the ride back before you go out.

  • How to spend a weekend in Agra?

See the Taj by day on Saturday, since it is closed on Fridays, then spend the evening at Mehtab Bagh, a show and a rooftop dinner. On Sunday, go to Fatehpur Sikri and have lunch on the way back in Shahganj, the first part of Agra you reach, about 34 km from Sikri.

Top floor, above MG Road 2. Open every day until 11:30 PM.

Take a table on the terrace, or order from the same kitchen. No booking fee, no commission, free cancellation up to two hours before.
